The Beckley Area Foundation manages over 130 scholarship funds established by individuals, firms and organizations desiring to assist WV residents in obtaining a college education. Each scholarship application has specific eligibility criteria  defined by the donor when the fund was established.  To access these individual scholarship details  visit our scholarship catalog download link below.  Read carefully and follow the specific application guidelines.  The Beckley Area Foundation application is available on line or see your guidance counselor for application materials. The scholarship catalog is updated annually in late February

and end April 1, 2010.

General criteria that apply to most scholarship funds include:
  • Must be a WV resident
  • Must be a full time student (12 hours minimum)
  • Must demonstrate academic achievement (at least 2.5), unless otherwise specified by a particular fund

Essay Questions
The following scholarship require essays in addition to the BAF application form.
All essays should be typed in 12 pt font, double spaced, with 1” margins.

Connie Louise McComb King Memorial Scholarship
In 300-1000 words describe how your background makes you a special candidate for this scholarship. 

Judy G. Thomas Scholarship
In 200-300 words share what was the most difficult time in your life and why?  How did your perspective on life change as a result of that difficulty?  Additionally, please discuss any experience or interaction which you may have had with Judy Thomas during her tenure as principal at Beckley-Stratton.
